Infinithéâtre/McGill University Presents Shakespeare's Sonnets At Moyse Hall

Infinitheatre, presented by McGill Department of English in collaboration with Early Modern Conversions Project-Shakespeare's Sonnets: Transforming the Voices of Montreal. Along with live music and video, see the sonnets like never before; contemporary, urban and conversational. Fall in love with the universal themes of life, love and death, or be smitten all over again. Directed by Infinitheatre Artistic Director Guy Sprung, along with Mask Master Brian Smith, the show runs for one week only, October 22-27, at the beautiful Moyse Hall theatre in McGill University's Arts Building. There will be post-show artist talks after each performance.

After great success last year with the inaugural project, Infinitheatre presents the second cohort of the Quebec English-language Playwrights' Unit (The Unit). This rich roster of uniquely Quebec plays is poised for programming in theatres across the country. The Unit, under the guidance of dramaturge and playwright Alexandria Haber, is proud to announce that after a year in development there will be seven staged readings from September 20-23. Readings take place at Centaur Theatre, The Segal Centre for Performing Arts, MainLine Theatre and Espace Freestanding Room. All events are free, with donations gratefully accepted.

Epic Play FIGHT ON! Comes to Infinitheatre at Espace Knox

Fostering Infinitheatre's ongoing mandate of reflecting and exploring life in the 21st century, Artistic Director Guy Sprung examines Canada's ignoble past in this first part of the creative development of Fight On!, playing from April 10-22 at Espace Knox. This cross-cultural, multilingual, meta-Brechtian romp set during the late 19th century is the company's most ambitious production to date; incorporating masks, multimedia, dance, buffoonery, and authentic, embarrassing historical pronouncements. Fight On! Part 1 will be performed mainly in English, with significant characters speaking French, Cree, and Mohawk, with English surtitles. There will be talkbacks after each performance, plus invited guests on Thursdays. Trigger warning: satirical colonial views might cause self-conscious laughter.

BWW Review: CONVERSION at Infinithéâtre

The Montreal theatre company, Infinitheatre, has positioned its 2017-2018 season in a beautiful nook of Notre-Dame-de-Grace, partnering with the artist-run, non-profit, community center Espace Knox, and establishing the beautiful and historic Kensington Presbyterian Church as its primary venue for this year's season. Their first 2018 production, Conversion, written by Alyson Grant and directed by Guy Sprung, opened there on February 8th and will continue to run until February 25th. This is Grant's third play with Infinitheatre, having previously contributed the plays Trench Patterns in 2011 and Progress! in 2015.

Alyson Grant, writer of past Infinith tre hit shows Progress! and Trench Patterns, returns with her searing new play, Conversion. Never one to shy away from both current and meaty subject matter, Grant now tackles the power of words and labels with her usual bite and poignancy, exploring ideas of entitlement, prejudices, inadequacy, status and family. Directed by Infinith tre Artistic Director Guy Sprung, Conversion runs from February 6-25 at Espace Knox, a multidisciplinary artist-run space aptly housed in the converted sanctuary of a former church. Conversion will be shown with French surtitles twice a week. Post-show Artist Talks with invited guests are on Thursdays, otherwise plan to go out for tea/coffee/drinks after the show- there will be plenty of fodder for conversation. Warning- contains expected family infighting over strong, opinionated views (Rolaids not provided).

Infinitheatre is honoured to pay tribute to the 122-year-strong legacy of Montreal's Royal Victoria Hospital with the inaugural production of its 2015-2016 season: Progress!, by Montreal playwright Alyson Grant. This commemorative tale set in the Royal Vic on its 'imagined' final day, sees the hospital's historic Nurse's Lounge as its actual stage, from October 19 to 31, and celebrates the closing of the city's iconic hospital.
