The Hollywood Bowl's production of HAIRSPRAY reunites original Broadway stars Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Both Fierstein and Winokur, playing mother Edna Turnblad and daughter Tracy Turnblad, were awarded Tony Awards for best leading actor in a musical and best leading actress in a musical respectively for their appearances in HAIRSPRAY on Broadway. This is the first time that they have performed these roles together in Los Angeles; this is also Fierstein's Hollywood Bowl debut. On the heels of a highly successful Broadway run, the electrifying Latin and ballroom dance spectacular BURN THE FLOOR plays the Pantages Theatre for a strictly-limited 2 week engagement, which began April 26. The show will run through May 8, 2011. The Los Angeles engagement features So You Think You Can Dance alumni Anya Garnis, Pasha Kovalev, Robbie Kmetoni, Janette Manrara, and Karen Hauer. Also featured is Vonzell Solomon, second runner-up in Season Four of American Idol, who is BURN THE FLOOR's female vocalist. As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, the 2008 Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical In The Heights welcomes 19 Recordings/Jive Records platinum recording artist and 2007 'American Idol' winner Jordin Sparks as Broadway's new Nina Rosario on August 19, 2010. 20 year old Jordin Sparks will be making her Broadway debut, playing a limited 12 week engagement through Sunday, November 14, 2010. During a Monday night concert, June 28, at House of Blues, Sparks surprised the audience with a teaser of her performance to come, singing 'Breathe' from In The Heights.

As Broadway continues to bend in a direction of seeking Hollywood names for the stage, it seems it is only a matter of time before Zac Efron, former star of Disney's High School Musical, makes the shortlist for some production. His former High School Musical star, Corbin Bleu, is currently starring in In the Heights on Broadway. Another High School Musical alumna (and Efron's real-life girlfriend) Vanessa Hudgens will take the stage as 'Mimi' in Rent at the Hollywood Bowl this summer.
