PBS and WGBH announced today that the premiere of 'Downton Abbey, Season 4' on MASTERPIECE enchanted viewers nationwide as the Crawley family faced changes in the wake of last season's shocking finale. An average audience of 10.2 million viewers tuned in for Sunday's premiere. (Nielsen Fast National data, 6.2 household rating.)

Susan Lacy, creator and executive producer of the acclaimed WNET series 'American Masters,' shown on PBS nationwide, has signed a multi-year deal to produce and direct documentaries for HBO, it was announced today by Sheila Nevins, president, HBO Documentary Films.

Today at the Television Critics Association meeting, PBS reaffirmed its commitment to independent film by announcing that it will offer its second annual Online Film Festival, featuring short form films beginning today, March 4, and will offer a multi-platform Independent Film Showcase this fall. Both will feature films from POVand ITVS's INDEPENDENT LENS, as well as other public media partners.

Tonight at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, AOL, PBS and Simple facial skincare will host a red-carpet premiere for 'MAKERS: Women Who Make America,' the PBS documentary film which serves as the broadcast extension to MAKERS, a first-of-its-kind multiplatform video initiative that aims to become the largest collection of women's stories ever assembled. The event will bring together more than 56 notable MAKERS women, including Katie Couric, Gloria Steinem and Martha Stewart, as well as VIPs Allison Williams, Kelly Rutherford and Kyra Sedgwick, AOL CEO Tim Armstrong, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger, WETA President and CEO Sharon Percy Rockefeller and Unilever North America EVP of Personal Care, Gina Boswell who will gather to celebrate over a half century of women's achievements. The three-hour PBS documentary airs on Tuesday, February 26 at 8PM ET on PBS (check your local listings).
