I want to stay in the discovery of the character, not in the attitude of her or her life. I want to be completely subjective about her. I want to speak in her voice genuinely and not pump emotion into a moment or a line. For that to happen I need to just stay on the text.

I feel like Linus in a Peanuts comic strip. My script for A Little Night Music has become my security blanket. For the last month I have walked around the house casually carrying it, glancing at it off and on during the day.

Starting a new show is a gloriously wonderful, terrifying experience. Everything I think I know about acting gets questioned. My heart races, my mind becomes numb and my soul pushes against the cage of fear. I am a 55 year old actor. I have been doing this since I was five, but it doesn't get any easier. It's the terror of the first day of school mixed with the joy of spring after a long winter. New beginnings, new friendships, new families, new life.

In celebration of this milestone event, this multi-award-winning company will be hosting a celebrity-studded gala fundraiser inspired by this year's upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz! The event will be held tonight, October 29 at the stunning Arcadian Court.

Following up on the success of last season's production of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, the Stratford Festival is presenting another Noel Coward favourite this year. HAY FEVER recently opened at the Avon Theatre, and judging from the raucous laughter it produced from the opening night audience, it is likely to be a hit among theatre-goers this season.

In an effort to reach out to families and little children, Stratford is offering something to keep the attention of the 12 and under crowd. Big colourful costumes, zany situations and audience participation will make this a hit with the small set.

Last season, the Stratford Festival staged a wildly popular production of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit; this season, another Coward classic will be presented at the Avon Theatre, the outrageously witty Hay Fever. Directed by Alisa Palmer, this hilarious comedy began previews on Wednesday and officially opens on Thursday, June 19.

Vocalist and guitarist George Meanwell continues his homage to all things theater with a performance of 'Ghost Light' (referring to the incandescent light left illuminated on stage when a theatre is unoccupied). The Stratford Festival's box office opens to the public this Saturday, January 5, at 9 a.m., with an online advance sale beginning at noon on Friday. Facebook fans, who want to use the Festival's new social ticketing app will be able to purchase tickets as of 9 a.m. today. Tickets are being offered at up to 25% off until January 31, with an opportunity to exchange dates with no added expense.

This past Monday, stars of Toronto's theatre scene joined together for a fundraiser in support of Acting Up Stage, a 'modern musical theatre' company in Toronto. Artistic Director Mitchell Marcus once again teamed with Musical Director Reza Jacobs to create an evening filled with unique songs by popular composers. Tapestries featured the music of Carole King and James Taylor and included stars such as Cynthia Dale, Jake Epstein, Josh Young and more.
