MainStreet is happy to be producing the West Coast Premiere of Stiles and Drewe’s adaptation of The Three Little Pigs. This family musical from the team behind the award-winning musicals Honk! and Mary Poppins is full of charm, witty wordplay, and catchy music.

Mother Pig decides to send her children out into the world when their home becomes a “real pig sty”. Each pig has a very distinct personality and way of seeing the world. Mother advises them to stick together, but they decide they’d be better off trying to build their own homes. CHA builds his from twigs, SIU from straw, and BAO from bricks. They believe that the Big Bad Wolf (who ate the pig’s father years before) is dead, so there’s no danger, but it’s not true. He’s alive and well and very hungry! The wolf decides that three small pigs are just what he needs to stave off his hunger. Of course, in the end the pigs outwit him, and end up living all together (including Mom) in their beautiful new house made of bricks.

CHA: [Male -20’s-30. TENOR] The “pig with muscle”, CHA doesn’t see the need to do much other than play sports and play in the mud. He thinks building a house with twigs will be the easiest.

SIU: [Female- 20’s to 30. MEZZO SOPRANO] Siu wants to make sure whatever house they build is environmentally friendly, but finds that building a house out of straw is not as easy as it looks.

BAO: [Male- 20’s to 30. TENOR] The “pig with brains”. BAO may be the smallest, but he reads a lot and knows a lot of very useful things, like making blueprints to build a sturdy house out of bricks.

MOTHER PIG: [Female- 30’s plus. ALTO/MEZZO] MOTHER sends her three children off into the world to make their own homes when the home they share becomes a real Pig Sty.
(also plays three convenient tradespeople: Sellers of Sticks, Straw, and Bricks)

THE BIG BAD WOLF: [Male- 30’s plus. BARITENOR, WITH HIGH HOWL CAPABILITY] Although he claims he’s just misunderstood, make no mistake. This wolf is mean, and means to eat the Three Little Pigs! He does meet a bad end, but it’s his own fault for going down the chimney and falling into the stew pot.
