AUDITIONS FOR YOUNG MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMERS! One Song Glory Acting Up Stage Company is seeking the best and brightest young talent aged 19 and under to audition for One Song Glory; a FREE professional musical theatre training program that brings together young talent from across Ontario to develop musical theatre performance skills.
WHAT IS IT? One Song Glory is a unique program with a mandate to deliver absolutely FREE musical theatre training for the youth of Ontario. Participants will take master classes, participate in workshops, and train with professional directors and musical directors who work in the Toronto musical theatre scene to hone their skills. In addition, each student will get the chance to work on two musical theatre numbers that they will perform at two final showcase performances at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.
WHEN IS IT? Rehearsals are every Saturday from November 12th-December 3rd (4 days) ending with two performances on December 4th, 2011 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.
HOW DO I GET IN? All prospective participants must audition for the program. 1 piece of music (preferably from the musical theatre canon – contemporary preferred) will be performed at the audition. An accompanist will be provided so please bring sheet music.
TO BOOK AN AUDITION: Auditions will be held on October 16th and 23rd, 2011. Send an email to auditions@actingupstage.com before October 12th (for Oct 16th auditions) or October 19th (for Oct 23rd auditions) to be considered for an audition. Please include in the email: your name and phone number, what city you are from, your school, your favourite musical and your preferred audition date.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Is there a cost to the program? No! The program is fully subsidized so that cost is not a barrier to participation. What is the time commitment for this? If selected, you will be REQUIRED to attend four rehearsals (Saturday, November 12th, Saturday, November 19th, Saturday, November 26th, and Saturday, December 3rd from 9:45 am a.m. - 5 p.m.) You will then need to be at the theatre on Sunday, December 4th, the day of the show, at 12:00 p.m. and remain until the show is completed (approximately 10pm). Participants must be available for all dates. Who should I contact with further questions? Feel free to email auditions@actingupstage.com with further questions or phone (647) 297-2161.
