Does anybody know anything about the Lower Ossington Theatre. They have an ambitious season planned, including Spring Awakening, Avenue Q and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. How is a small theatre like this able to produce shows like these?
Coach Bob knew it all along: you've got to get obsessed and stay obsessed. You have to keep passing the open windows. (John Irving, The Hotel New Hampshire)
They're also affiliated with the Toronto Youth Theatre, who will also be mounting a production of Spring Awakening November 16th-26th. The LOT's Spring Awakening opens tonight.
I was at the performance o SPRING AWAKENING this afternoon....Excellent production. Worked much better in that intimate space than it did a few years ago at the cavernous Canon theatre.
Show has a great cast of singers/actors...not sure they needed to be mic'd but they were...and all the lyrics came through sharp and clear. Plays until next Saturday at Lower Ossington theatre. I enjoyed it very much even if the musical isn't nearly as good as the original play.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
