Scarborough Music Theatre's 50th anniversary season begins on November 3 with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. But anyone who wants to join them to celebrate this milestone event should act quickly - they're almost sold out. "We're still two weeks before the show and there are only about 30 tickets left for the run," says box office manager Rhoda Silzer. In fact, the production would already be sold out had SMT not already put two additional performances on sale a few weeks ago.

Joseph, lyrics by Tim Rice (The Lion King, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar) and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar), tells the biblical story of the boy whose grandiose dreams inspire his brothers to sell him into slavery in Egypt where those same dreams ultimately save the Egyptians, and his brothers, from seven years of famine. First presented as a 15 minute cantata in 1968, the show was expanded and eventually opened on Broadway in 1982. Since that time there have been over 20,000 school and amateur productions around the world. Perhaps best known to Toronto audiences is the Canadian production starring Donny Osmond as Joseph.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat runs from November 3-19, 2011 at Scarborough Village Theatre (3600 Kingston Road). Tickets are on sale through the Theatre Scarborough box office and can be ordered by phone (416-267-9292) or online at www.theatrescarborough.com. Regular tickets are $25 with student and senior discounts available for Thursday evenings and all matinee performances. Tickets for groups of 10 or more are available for $20 each. Tickets are also on sale for the rest of the 2011/12 season, Nunsense and My Fair Lady.
