With Dark Knight Rises hitting theatres this summer, Batman frenzy is already in full swing and Toronto is taking centre stage. It would appear that Canada's largest city has its very own caped crusader, and he has a knack for theatrics! In Batman's Night Out the Dark Knight hits up Yonge-Dundas Square, rides the TTC and struggles with some beef jerky.
The video was produced and directed by Sean Ward of Harth TV and released on YouTube this past Friday in the hopes of creating some laughs amongst his viewers. In the three days that followed it has racked up almost 300,000 views and has been featured on local and national news broadcasts.
When asked about what it feels like to have his video explode like this, Sean focused on Toronto pride more than anything else: "Forget the view counts. The juice for me is in how this is being held up by the whole world as an example of how cool and fun Toronto is." He was also quick to point out the unique theatrical nature behind what Toronto Batman is doing: At Harth TV and BNOTIONS, we try to bring theatrics and pageantry to places you don't expect to find any. Batman's Night Out stands out as a 'pop art' example of how we like to approach all areas of life."
We even managed to speak to Toronto Batman himself, who true to form, was a man of few words. When asked to comment on the state of Toronto's theatre scene he simply growled..."not bad." Some gentle pushing did yield an optimistic "more to come" which begs the question, could we see Toronto Batman out at the next big theatre event? One can only hope.

Kelly Cameron's love affair with the theatre began when she was just five years old, on an outing to see the Original Canadian Cast of Les Miserables at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto. She instantly fell in love, and since then has been lucky enough to be involved in various theatre activities and productions, including a regional production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and a local production of Where the Sidewalk Ends. She has also received training from various teachers throughout Southwestern Ontario in both piano and voice, and competed in vocal competitions for which she received a few awards. Her writing career started almost by accident, when she had the opportunity to become a ghostwriter for up and coming businesses. She continues to do this, writing the content for all sorts of companies who are starting websites and looking to find their voice. Her passion and love for theatre led to her becoming involved with BroadwayWorld where she is thrilled to be writing for the Toronto contingent of the rapidly growing website. When she isn't at the theatre, you can generally find her firmly planted in front of her trusty Blackberry - tweeting, Facebooking or partaking in other such social media activities to ensure that those who want to know are kept apprised of everything that Toronto theatre has to offer. Other interests include movies, art, music, shopping, fashion and martial arts with the occasional foray into the world of finance.
