Photo Coverage: Toronto Symphony Journeys to Oz

On Halloween weekend, Roy Thomson Hall was transformed into Emerald City as The Toronto Symphony paid tribute to one of the most popular movies of all time, The Wizard of Oz. The event was a one of a kind experience, where patrons could watch the classic movie projected on a gigantic screen while the fabulous Toronto Symphony Orchestra played the orchestrations live on stage.

Guests were encouraged to come to the performances in full Halloween costume, and the talented members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra also dressed up for their performances. Parents flocked to the show with their children in tow, some of whom were eager to experience The Wizard of Oz for the first time and many who were falling in love with it all over again.

BWW was on hand to provide exclusive photo coverage of the event, and also speak with some of the youngsters about the difference between watching the classic movie in Roy Thomson Hall as compared to at home on DVD. The answer? A resounding "way better!" It would seem that parents and children alike were delighted to take the trip down the yellow brick road, as they embraced the film and the music together and shared stories of their first experiences with the film. There may be no place like home, but the smiles on the children's faces proved that sometimes, nothing beats the thrill of watching a live orchestra.
