In The Heights opened on Tuesday night in Toronto, and BWW is thrilled to bring its readers these exclusive photos. In The Heights is the 2008 Tony Award Winner for Best Musical, Best Music and Lyrics, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations, and Toronto audiences have been eagerly anticipating the production since it was announced last year.
The show is the brainchild of Lin-Manuel Miranda, who worked with producers Jill Furman, Kevin McCollum and Jeffrey Seller (known for their previous work on shows like Rent, Avenue Q and The Drowsy Chaperone) to bring to life the story of a vibrant community in Washington Heights, and the importance of home, family and finding where you belong. The show is known for its unique and eclectic use of hip-hop music to tell its story, and for Miranda's clever and ambitious lyrics.
In The Heights plays at The Toronto Centre for the Arts until February 19th, 2012.
