Little Pea's Revolution Comes To Toronto As Part Of United Solo

Little-Peas-Revolution-Comes-To-Toronto-As-Part-Of-United-Solo-20010101

Little Pea's Revolution premiering in Toronto then showing as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival!

"Little Pea has just turned twelve and is terrified of what she is to become / who she is. So terrified, in fact, that she locks herself in the bathroom during her birthday party, and imagines an escape route where she doesn't have to face the next chapter of her life: facing the death of her grandmother, and becoming a woman. Through interactions with her older cousin, her mother, her grandmother, and her best friend, Little Pea questions her inheritance, and explores her political, sexual, and mixed racial identity, all to answer one of life's most important questions: Is it better to be the Princess or the Pea?" A Canadian soiree of a little girl's journey to her own self.

"After the death of my paternal grandmother, I realized that I was losing a connection to a past that would never again be recovered, and it suddenly become important to ask questions about my mixed racial identity, and cultural inheritance," says creator Laura Quigley. "I was also curious to explore moments in our lives where we make decisions about ourselves, especially as a woman. Little Pea is the culmination of this research. I am ecstatic that the United Solo Festival in New York will be the World Premiere for this work. Solo performance is an incredibly important and exciting form of theatre, and it's thrilling to be a part of a festival of international solo work."

Prior to its US premiere, Little Pea's Revolution will run for a limited engagement at the Hub 14 space November 4th and 5th in Toronto ON.

Little Revolutions is a non-profit theatre company with a mandate to instigate little revolutions within the artists, students, and audiences the company collaborates with. It creates vital, socially engaging, artistically masterful performance pieces that blur the boundaries between audience and artist.

United Solo Theatre FestivalTM is an annual international festival for solo performances held in New York City. Through a diverse range of one-person shows, they explore and celebrate the uniqueness of the individual.
