Lieutenant Governor Hosts Closing Diamond Jubilee Gala; Liona Boyd to be Honoured Guest

Liona Boyd, Canada's First Lady of the Guitar, will be an honoured guest at the Lieutenant Governor's Closing Diamond Jubilee Gala on February 6 at Roy Thomson Hall. The celebrated Canadian musician will present Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medals to deserving Ontarians and perform live for the Gala's distinguished guests.

Liona received her own Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012 in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to the Canadian music landscape. Liona also holds the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario, and has five honorary doctorates. Five-time Juno award-winner for Instrumental Artist of the Year, Liona is known around the world as a classical guitar virtuoso and composer, and has now added singing and songwriting to her illustrious career.

Liona is presently at work completing a new CD called The Return... to Canada with Love, which will be released this year. The new record features songs inspired by Canada with special guest appearances by fellow Canadian artists such as JAnn Arden, Randy Bachman, and Serena Ryder to name just a few.
