Canadian Stage presents the 2011 Dream in High Park: William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. This romantic comedy is filled with music, kings and queens, shipwrecks, statues that come to life, and even a bear! Family ties and love triangles are complicated by prophecies, perceptions and disguises. This adaptation of one of Shakespeare's classic tales will be an enchanting, high-energy and celebratory tale for the whole family to enjoy.

Canadian Stage Dream in High Park: The Winter's Tale

The Winter's Tale, the fairytale worlds of Bohemia and Sicilia will come to life in one of Shakespeare's classic tales filled with kings, queens, shipwrecks and a bear in an enchanting, high-energy and celebratory story for the whole family to enjoy. The 2011 Dream in High Park production will be performed al fresco by a cast of twelve actors and musicians. One of Toronto's favourite summer traditions for 29 years, the Dream in High Park is the oldest annual outdoor theatre event in the country with an estimated total attendance of 1.3 million people.

Who: Directed by Estelle Shook, the production will feature a well-known and diverse cast of established Canadian actors, up-and-coming talent and quadruple-threat performers who can act, dance, sing and play a variety of instruments. Cast members include John Blackwood, Jasmine Chen, Sean Dixon, Charlotte Gowdy, David Jansen, George Masswohl, Kelly McIntosh, Meilie Ng,Thomas Olajide, Nicole Robert , Jovanni Sy, Sanjay Talwar. Original music composed by Toronto-based artist John Millard with set and costume design by Denyse Karn and lighting design by Jason Hand.

Where: High Park Amphitheatre in High Park at Bloor St. West and High Park Ave.
Directions from High Park subway station: Enter the park from Bloor St., follow the road to the Grenadier Café. Continue east on the foot path opposite the parking lot marked by Dream signage.

When: June 28 to September 4, 2011
Opening Night: Thursday, June 30 at 8 p.m.

Tickets: Tuesday through Sunday at 8 p.m., High Park Amphitheatre. Gate opens at 6 p.m.
Admission is Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) at the gate with a suggested minimum donation of $20.
Free for children 14 and under.

Youth Night at The Dream
Friday July 29, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by a FREE performance

Join Canadian Stage for a FREE celebration of youth art in Toronto at Youth Night at the Dream! Attend a backstage tour of our unique outdoor set, contribute to our art installation, participate in creative practical workshops led by the cast of the show, enjoy live performances by a variety of youth artists from across the city and attend a free showing of Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale. Share your art and be inspired by the work of others!
