Blyth Festival Young Company Presents Alligator Tears on the Main Stage

Blyth-Festival-Young-Company-Presents-Alligator-Tears-on-the-Main-Stage-20010101

The Blyth Festival Young Company is promoted to the main stage for a revival of the musical hit Alligator Tears, an original musical by young Stratford playwright, Britta Johnson.

If you saw the production in 2010, you know that these aspiring young artists deserve to see their names in lights. The local area students-aged 13 to 19-have been working on the production since August 8, under the professional direction of Rebecca Picherack.

Alligator Tears is a musical about a community looking for its identity. On this journey, it crosses paths with an alligator and a man named Tuffy Truesdell. Based on actual events that unfolded in New Hamburg in 1953, Alligator Tears is a witty look at our collective need for heroes.

"This year's Young Company is bursting with local talent," says Festival Artistic Director, Eric Coates. "I don't think we have ever seen such an eager ensemble of teenagers. These kids actually cannot wait to sing and dance!"

Alligators Tears runs September 1 to September 3 on the main stage at the Blyth Festival.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students, available by calling the Blyth Festival Box Office at 519-523-9300/1-877-862-5984. For more information on the Blyth Festival Young Company visit www.blythfestival.com or call 519-523-9300/1-877-862-5984

The Young Company is supported by CIBC, United Communities Credit Union, the Township of North Huron and the McCreary-Juhasz Young Company Director's Fund established by Dr. Anne Juhasz to provide interested youth with professional theatre direction.

The Blyth Festival's 2011 season sponsors are Sparling's Propane Company Limited and CTV.
