BOMBAY DREAMS OPENING DAY ACTIVITIES

DiscoverAbility, a community program for youth, has partnered with The Hummingbird Centre for an exciting day of events to kick off The Centre's 2006-2007 season.  Involving over forty students from universities, high schools and elementary schools across Toronto, DiscoverAbility at Bombay Dreams highlights the vitality and beauty of Indian art and dance, while celebrating the diverse talents of the city's young people.

Live Art – 9am to 3pm
Twenty-one student artists will collaborate together on a seven-panel mural to be painted live all day.   Inspired by York Wilson's Seven Lively Arts mural, the young artists will create a vibrant depiction of the evolution of art and culture in South-East Asia.

Performance: Suddenly Art! – 7:20 to 7:40pm
Suddenly Art! is an extraordinary show where artists, inspired by music and dance, spontaneously create impressive art pieces within minutes.  This exclusive performance will feature three pieces of traditional and modern Indian dances, performed by a team of student dancers.

Henna Artist
Come have a piece of art painted on your body by Henna Artist, Anna, for a small donation.

The Bombay Market from 1pm –to 4pm
Enjoy a piece of roasted corn with seasonings or a cold Kulfi.
